Policy Statment (Estratègia global)

Ins Jaume I is located in Salou, a small town near Tarragona and 130 km from Barcelona. It’s a very touristic area near to Port Aventura World (Park and Resort), and lots of hotels, resorts, restaurants, and a lot of medium and small enterprises dedicated to the tourism industry. There are also several companies engaged in the chemical and oil industry in the Tarragona Petrochemical Complex. Because of tourism, in the area there are many pools in hotels and many kilometers of beaches that are monitored by professional lifeguards. Our proximity to the sea requires the training of experts in water sports to work in several companies in this sector that can be found on our shores.
In all societies it is essential to educate citizens from an early age. Older residents also have needs that must be met.
Primary schools and nursing homes have become very important in our growing population.
Our school has four lines of secondary education with about 600 students and four main departments of professional education with about 300 students. Ins Jaume I employs 80 teachers. To meet the needs of our society, the main departments in our professional education are:

•Management and Administration.
•Sports (Lifeguard training/ Sailing).
•Community Services.
•Kindergarten.

We have been working with some of them to provide our students with an internship place.
Our centre is currently starting international activities. We believe it is very important for students to learn languages and to have new experiences but also to learn other styles of organization, education and management from our neighbouring countries. This is why we have started several international programmes such as Erasmus+ Sport, Erasmus+, and a language programme for secondary education where students are taught different subjects in English and also with the help of a native English teacher.

Institut Jaume I is committed to offering high quality learning agreements to ensure excellent learning outcomes. Salou is a welcoming city that has applied an integrative and cosmopolitan ambience to its schools and education centers. Thus, an important advantage is the methodological experience in this field which is transferable to certain dynamics of international mobility.
The selection of schools will be based initially on similar educational backgrounds and also on innovative learning methods.
Based on the information provided by the Catalan Ministry of Education we will contact partners to ensure matching curricula in order to efficiently develop student’s practices and / or complement their studies.
For the completion of the compulsory in-company training we will choose the best companies that offer activities related to the courses taught at the centre. We will contact local councils, chambers and other bodies.
We will primarily select English-speaking countries as this is the predominant foreign language in our school.

Our school will promote exchange programmes between internship students. As previously mentioned, the goals of our mobility activities will focus on increasing the language skills of our students, giving them the opportunity to gain experience in foreign companies and to improve their employability prospects.
Institute Jaume I will include the project in its strategic planning and PQiMC to monitor and carry out an annual evaluation of the project in order to improve the design of the Mobility Project and to implement any necessary improvements under the future Erasmus + programme (2016 -2020).
Initially, the main objective of Institut Jaume I is to participate in internship programmes while also expanding our participation in study programmes for students of all educational levels under the Erasmus + scheme.
The Erasmus + programme will bring many benefits to our school and to our students. The internationalization of our Institute will allow our students to become more competitive in the global labour market. Achieving an increased understanding of foreign languages and gaining new experiences will increase their knowledge of respective fields and generate new and innovative methods of teaching and learning.
